12:30 am first fish of the season caught by Scott Stacey!  A very excited young man awoke Clint in the early hours of the morning to weigh and photograph his first catch of the holiday.  Fishery owner and fisherman, all doing well!  Five more fish caught during the week topped by a 20lb Common...fantastic!!  Fantastic week at Nature's retreat, looked after well by Clint and Jane.  A home from home aptmosphere.  Great walking position down into Coussac Bonneval or shorter walks around the block.  Looking forward to coming back next year!! Thank you x Love from the Stacey Family

Despite the rubbish weather this week we have had a fantastic time.  The children loved being able to play outside, Glenn enjoyed his fishing and Jodie and I relaxed in the beautiful surroundings.  We can not thank you enough Jane and Clint for your kindness and helping us with directions to all the places we have visited.  We wish you all the luck in the world for the future of Natures Retreat, you deserve it, you work so hard.  Much love the Chapmans

Clint and Jane, we have come to the end of a truly relaxing week at Nature’s Retreat.  After a very long drive to get here from the Cotswolds, we had a very warm welcome and a much needed bottle of bubbly which was very much enjoyed.  You have both created a lovely house and stunning lake for which to relax and unwind for a weeks holiday.  You have thought very carefully of all your holidaymakers needs. You couldn’t ask for more. As Paul and I both enjoy fishing, we have spent all but one day by the lake as the weather was superb.  The days were very hot and tranquil the fishing was slow to start as the fish were not feeding.  But Paul's best catches were 17lb and 26lb mirror carp.  Paul would like to thank Clint for his expert advice.  We were recommended an excellent restaurant by Clint  who then booked it and provided a taxi service too.  Our one day out was to Oradour-Sur-Glane, very moving but a must see.  For supplies, bread, cheese and more importantly wine the local village of Coussac Bonneval provides all and is a beautiful village too.  Thanks again for such a relaxing stay.  We wish you all the best for the future and hope to come back sometime.  Best wishes the Hudson’s

You never know what to expect on a fishing holiday or what is ahead of a long journey, you can only hope!  This was far more than we ever dreamed!  Beautiful, peaceful surroundings, a wonderful farmhouse full of interesting charm.  Thoughtfully furnished, clean and comfortable.  Every need catered for - a cooks dream of a kitchen, great attention to detail and the best quality provided of everything from cutlery to bed linen.  We were made to feel so welcome and knew straight away that we were in for a treat.  The ability to relax was instant.  A good size lake stocked with well conditioned fish for the men and a wonderful place to relax, walk or swim for the ladies.  The weather started well with warm temperatures and sunshine on arrival.  Well kept pretty gardens and pool area.  Unfortunately like most places this year the weather turned and rain, wind and cold weather followed.  Two days fishing in the rain!  The rest cool and cloudy.  Sunday, Monday and Tuesday blanked in spite of much help and hints from Clint.  At last, Wednesday in the rain a 17lb common carp was caught.  Followed by 18lb mirror and 16lb linear carp.  Beautiful fish!  Thought to be slow due to late spawning.  Thursday morning between nine and twelve, 18lb common.  Very wet and cold 13 celcius.  2 x 19lb mirror carp followed in the afternoon and a 15lb mirror.  Friday cool and overcast 14 celcius.  Morning, two minutes in and 15lb mirror.  Followed by 16lb mirror.  Most fish were caught at the left hand end of the lake around the edges near the sluice.  This seemed to be the hotspot.  All fish caught on red maggot boilies.  Friday spotted a deer, kingfisher, usual heron and buzzards.  Golden Oriole heard but not seen.  Again, a huge thank you to Clint and Jane for their friendliness, help and advice on fishing and places to go; walks and restaurants, lift to and from a great meal.  You deserve great success, you work so hard, good luck with all you do.

It's been another good day. Simple tactics are winning the day, locate the greedy carp and feed them. Lots of particles in the silt and they are going bonkers for it. 17 fish in 4 days fishing. A lake record of 40lb 5oz, 2 30,s and 8 20's. I have only fished one night, but kept the bait going in the swims day and night and each time I return to the lake I can see the carp feeding on the particles. I have to say the potential for this lake is great lots of growth potential for a lot of these 20's. Had two commons today, one of them was part of a brace of 20's. I will post the photos or send them all to Clint to post. However for those of you who want the finer things in life, how about coq au vin and a glass of Margot by the Lake. You can't say that when you back in the UK!!!
